Recreation Activities Specialist

Description:

Overview

Develops and organizes Therapeutic Recreation programming for assigned residences.

Coordinates with clients as well as DSP in creating a therapeutic outing schedule on a monthly basis where applicable.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plans and coordinates daily, monthly, yearly, therapeutic recreational programs for assigned residences.

  • Communicates with staff from assigned residences regarding preparation of monthly recreation schedule.

  • Plans and implements on campus entertainment, workshops, events, etc..

  • Coordinates and leads specified off-campus recreational events.

  • Assists assigned residences with purchasing and maintaining an inventory of appropriate recreational equipment.

  • Implements specific special projects as assigned.

  • Completes and maintains all required documentation regarding recreational activities and client involvement.

 

Job Requirements: Qualifications

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Adapted Physical Education or other related field is required.

  • A minimum of one-year of experience with the elderly is preferred. Driver’s license required.

  • Must be able to read, write, enter dates and follow verbal / written directions, prepare written reports, and complete written forms in English.

  • Must be able to verbally communicate in English and direct clients, respond to clients needs.

  • Must be able to verbally communicate emergency information in English over the phone.
